The eleventh session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) met from 3-12 July 2007, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Members remained divided on whether a new international instrument is needed and the meeting did not reach consensus on how to protect genetic resources, traditional knowledge and folklore against misappropriation. Instead, the Committee asked the WIPO General Assembly to renew its mandate, reiterating that “no outcome of its work is excluded, including the possible development of an international instrument or instruments.”
