24 May 2012: The winner of the “Date with History” video speech contest, organized by the TckTckTck campaign and Climate Nexus, has been announced. The contest provided an opportunity for youth around the world to demand urgent action on sustainability from their leaders and decision makers.

The contest encouraged young people (aged 13-30 years) to submit short video speeches containing ideas for decisive action on sustainability and the “future we want.” Seventeen-year-old Brittany Trilford from New Zealand was selected as the winner, for her speech calling for a future “where we run with natural processes and not against them” and “where leaders lead.”

She will travel to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) to deliver her winning speech. [Contest Winner Announcement]
