4jan_10_021 January 2010: LG Electronics (LGE) has partnered with the World Food Programme (WFP) to support the WFP’s work on food security and resilience to climate change in Ethiopia. LGE is sponsoring activities related to the WFP’s Managing Environmental Resources to Enable Transitions to More Sustainable Livelihoods (MERET) programme.

Activities under the programme include school meals and food-for-assets activities, where WFP supplies food rations to people who work on infrastructure programmes to make local agriculture more productive and sustainable. LGE has provided US$1 million of support for food security and climate change resilience to the Horn of Africa since 2009. [WFP Press Release]
