WBCSD Discusses Sustainable Agriculture at Indian Industry Sustainability Summit

15 October 2012: The member companies of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and its Secretariat Director, James Griffiths, joined the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)’s annual Sustainability Summit, held on 15-16 October 2012, in Delhi, India, to highlight company case studies as well as business’ role in providing sustainable and inclusive products and services.

Griffiths joined a panel focusing on sustainable agriculture and food security, noting the need for landscape-level approaches to sustainable agriculture and the importance of drawing linkages between agriculture and water, carbon and ecosystems, so that the solutions developed are long-term. He highlighted that business needs to manage natural and social capital through its operations, supply chains and investments, while governments need to provide the policies and frameworks which make this possible, practical and scalable.
