The workshop was sponsored by the Water Operators Partnership (WOP) of Africa, a concept that was initiated in 2006 through a process organized by the UN Division for Sustainable Development (DSD). The WOP of Africa was created in 2008. Participants identified areas in which to share technology and experiences, with a view to creating a joint database.
