Water and Climate Change Days to be Held during Stockholm World Water Week

August 2008: The Co-operative Programme on Water and Climate
(CPWC) is coordinating two Water and Climate Days, on 20 and 21 August 2008, as
part of the upcoming World Water Week being held in Stockholm, Sweden, from
17-23 August 2008.

Participating organizations include the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the World Meteorological Organization and the
World Bank. The IPCC Technical Paper on Water and Climate will be presented and
a session will be held on its meaning for sectoral and national adaptation
policies. Other themes to be addressed during the event include: vulnerability;
large-scale implementation of water-harvesting and groundwater recharge;
climate change, water and development; adaptation to climate change in the
African water sector; adaptation strategies in Europe; the European Investment
Bank’s water sector lending policy; and developing energy efficient measures
and climate change adaptation measures for water utilities in developing
