Voting Process for CSO Representatives at FCPF Opens

Voting has opened to select civil society representatives to the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), and will close on 16 February.

The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) will select one participant to represent Latin America, Asia, and Africa each, and a fourth representing "Northern" countries to attend FCPF meetings.

6 February 2012: The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) has announced that the voting process is open to select observers for three “Southern” civil society organizations (CSOs) and one “Northern” CSO to attend the Participants Committee meetings of the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), which is hosted at the World Bank.

EDF is coordinating the selection of three participants to represent Latin America, Asia/Pacific, and Africa, respectively, and a fourth representing “Northern” countries. Those selected with attend FCPF meetings as CSO representatives and will be expected to coordinate their views and share their ideas while occupying the CSO position on the Committee.

The voting to choose representatives is currently underway, and will close on 16 February 2012 (this date was original set for 23 February, but the new date was announced on 10 February, as a necessary adjustment to permit those who are selected enough time to secure visas to attend the meeting). Interested organizations are encouraged to vote according to their regions.
