Viet Nam Biogas Project Announced as World Energy Forum 2012 Awardee

The Project promotes the development of a commercially viable biogas sector, contributing to both rural development and environmental protection.

Launched in 2003, the project has supported the construction of over 140,000 biogas digesters, employed over 5,700 masons, and improved the lives of more than 700,000 people through enabling access to clean, safe and sustainable energy.

ADB's Energy for All10 October 2012: The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB’s) Energy For All (E4All) has announced that the World Energy Forum has awarded the Biogas Project Division of the Government of Viet Nam, as winner of the 2012 World Energy Awards, Humanitarian Award.

The Project promotes the development of a commercially viable biogas sector, contributing to both rural development and environmental protection. Launched in 2003, the project has supported the construction of over 140,000 biogas digesters, employed over 5,700 masons, and improved the lives of more than 700,000 people through enabling access to clean, safe and sustainable energy. Currently, over 52 of Viet Nam’s 63 provinces and municipalities are benefiting from the programme.
