28 August 2012: Ursula Schaefer-Preuss has been appointed Chair of the Global Water Partnership (GWP) by GWP Sponsoring Partners. Schaefer-Preuss most recently worked as Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development. Schaefer-Preuss emphasized that “water security must be at the top of the development agenda.”

Before working at the ADB, Schaefer-Preuss was Director General of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) responsible for development cooperation in Asia and Africa. [GWP Press Release]
