UNW-DPAC and WWAP Launch Third “Water for Life” Award on Water Cooperation

The UN-Water Decade Programme on Advocacy and Communication (UNW-DPAC) and the UN World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) have launched the third annual "Water for Life" award, with the theme of water cooperation.

The award encourages implementation of international commitments on water, including contributing to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

June 2012: The third annual “Water for Life” UN-Water Best Practices Award has been launched. It is open for nominees who have raised awareness of water issues or have achievements in the field of water management. Awards will be made in the categories “best water management practices” and “best participatory, communication, awareness-raising and education practices.” The theme of water cooperation aligns with the International Year of Water Cooperation 2013 and the 2013 World Water Day.

The award is launched by the UN Office to Support the International Decade for Action “Water for Life” 2005-2015 / UN-Water Decade Programme on Advocacy and Communication (UNW-DPAC) and the UN World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP).

The award is designed to encourage fulfillment of international commitments made on water, including contribution to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation (JPOI).
