The UNU International Institute for Software Technology held its annual board meeting to review the progress of its five-year work plan for applying information and communication technologies to problems of sustainable development.
23 September 2011: The UN University International Institute for Software Technology (UNU-IIST), based in Macao, held its annual board meeting to review the progress of its information and communication technologies (ICT) work plan, focused on research activities in four thematic areas: education, governance, health and poverty.
In 2010, the Institute had developed a five-year plan to apply ICT to problems of sustainable development. Review of this work plan was the focus of the board meeting held from 19-20 September 2011. UNU-IIST is expected to launch a Ph.D. programme on ICT and sustainable development in January 2012. [UNU News] [Website of UNU-IIST]
