UNU, DIVERSITAS Launch Survey on Establishment of IPBES

UN University, in collaboration with DIVERSITAS, is administering a survey to inform the deliberations of the Second Session of the IPBES Plenary, regarding IPBES' guiding principles.

Questions cover: IPBES' core role of assessing biodiversity and ecosystem services; the conceptual framework of IPBES; knowledge systems in addition to scientific knowledge; and IPBES' governance.

January 2012: UN University (UNU) in collaboration with DIVERSITAS and commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, have launched a survey to solicit feedback on the establishment of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). The results will inform the second session of a plenary meeting on IPBES, to be held in April 2012.

The survey seeks input from natural and social scientists, as well as relevant stakeholders, regarding IPBES’ guiding principles. It includes questions on: IPBES’ core role of assessing biodiversity and ecosystem services; the conceptual framework of IPBES; knowledge systems in addition to scientific knowledge; and IPBES’ governance.
