UNU and TIRI Sign Cooperation Agreement

The memorandum between the UNU Institute for Sustainability and Peace and the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research Institute (TIRI) aims to boost cooperation on research, testing and analysis to support local enterprises to achieve sustainable development, promote recycling and reduce emissions.

28 October 2010: The UN University Institute for Sustainability and Peace (UNU-ISP) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research Institute (TIRI) signed a memorandum to boost cooperation on research, testing and analysis related to industrial technologies research to support local enterprises to achieve sustainable development, promote recycling and reduce emissions.

The agreement will include capacity building activities to develop standards for quality control, and to promote the concepts “reuse,” “reduce,” “recycle,” and “zero emissions” for small and medium enterprises. The cooperation between the two organizations will also focus on urban environment issues as it relates to the “10-Year Project for Green Tokyo.” [UNU Press Release]
