UNSG Appoints New High Representative for LDCs, SIDS, Landlocked Developing States

Gyan Chandra Acharya, currently Nepal's ambassador to the UN, has been appointed to succeed Cheick Sidi Diarra as UN High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (OHRLLS).

14 August 2012: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Gyan Chandra Acharya as Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) (OHRLLS). Acharya succeeds Cheick Sidi Diarra, who served as the High Representative since 2007.
