Universal Postal Union Reports on GHG Mitigation Efforts

5 February 2012: The International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) has reported a 27% reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. During the 2009 UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, UPU pledged to reduce its emissions by 20% by 2012.

According to UN Greening the Blue, the International Bureau, located in Berne, Switzerland, has taken several steps to reduce emissions, including: renovating its building facade; reducing staff travel; investing in energy-efficient IT equipment; and reducing paper consumption.
