UNITAR, UNDP and South Africa Hold Training of Trainers Workshop on Climate Change

The Training of Trainers Workshop, organized jointly by UNITAR, UNDP and the South African Government, equipped selected participants from the African region with the necessary skills and knowledge necessary to negotiate effectively on climate change related issues, including green finance, adaptation, international mitigation agreements, and technology transfer, and to in turn, equip others with these skills through effective training.

May 2012: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in cooperation with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the South African Department for International Relations and Cooperation, held an event to train climate change experts on the means and methodologies to train others.

The Training of Trainers workshop was held in May 2012 in Pretoria, South Africa, and was part of the capacity building efforts of UNITAR’s Multilateral Diplomacy Programme (MDP) and the UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa (UNDP RBA) to train African government officials, negotiators, policymakers and other stakeholders in the skills and knowledge necessary for effective negotiations on climate change-related issues.
