Workshop on Climate and Disaster Resilience in Coastal Asian Cities
3 March 2009: The Workshop on Climate and Disaster Resilience in Coastal Asian Cities convened in Da Nang, Vietnam, from 18-20 February 2009. The workshop was organized by the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) through the CIFAL Kuala Lumpur, CityNet and the Kyoto University, in cooperation with Veolia Environment and the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction.

The event brought together 50 participants, including representatives of 13 Asian cities, as well as representatives from universities, nongovernmental organizations, international organizations and the private sector. Participants were trained in urban risk reduction and climate change adaptation strategies, and exchanged expertise and experiences. [UNITAR Press Release]
