23 March 2012: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) has announced that the Group of Friends for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) has launched a photo exhibition called “Saving the Day After Tomorrow: Accelerating sustainable development through DRR,” at UN Headquarters in New York.

The photo exhibition was launched to coincide with the opening of the “lnformal Informal” Negotiations on the Zero Draft of the Outcome Document of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). The exhibition includes 26 photos displayed at the Delegates’ Entrance to the UN General Assembly, and aims to provide an appropriate backdrop for the Rio+20 deliberations.

The Group of Friends for DRR was formed in February 2012 and aims to provide governments with a forum to discuss elements of DRR that can be reflected in the Rio+20 outcome document. The Group is co-chaired by Australia, Indonesia, Norway and Peru. [UNISDR Press Release]
