UNIDO, Republic of Korea Strengthen Cooperation on Green Industry

UNIDO and the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will collaborate in implementing technical cooperation projects, through Korea providing annual special-purpose contributions to UNIDO's Industrial Development Fund.

UNIDO and the country already collaborate on preparations for the UNCSD, joint publications on green growth and green industry, and other matters through the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and other entities.

UNIDO10 May 2012: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Republic of Korea have agreed to expand their cooperation on various issues, including green industry. Current cooperation takes place through various ministries and organizations, such as the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, and addresses preparations for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), as well as issuing joint publications on green growth and green industry.

The agreement for further cooperation was signed by UNIDO Director-General Kandeh Yumkella and the Republic of Korea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Kim Sung-Hwan. Under the agreement, UNIDO and the Ministry will collaborate in implementing technical cooperation projects, for which the Government provides annual special-purpose contributions to UNIDO’s Industrial Development Fund.
