The Conference, titled “Towards an Integrated Energy Agenda Beyond 2020: Securing Sustainable Policies and Investments,” was co-organized by UNIDO, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), the Global Forum on Sustainable Energy (GFSE) and the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC), and discussed energy issues in the context of the current global financial and economic crisis.
The Report highlights six recommendations, including on: energy development goals for 2030; energy efficiency fast track; accelerating energy research and development; diffusion of energy technologies; strengthening UN-Energy; and global energy support. The Report concludes that energy remains at the core of every major economic, environmental, security, and developmental challenge in the 21st century.
