UNIDO Convenes Hazardous Waste Management Training for Mongolian Officials

The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) convened a training on hazardous waste management and inspection of PCBs for officials from Mongolia, from 20-24 January 2014, in Prague, Czech Republic.

The training was part of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded ‘Capacity building for environmentally sound management of PCBs in Mongolia' currently being implemented by UNIDO.

GEF UNIDO11 February 2014: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) convened a training on hazardous waste management and inspection of PCBs for officials from Mongolia, from 20-24 January 2014, in Prague, Czech Republic. The training was part of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded project on ‘Capacity building for environmentally sound management of PCBs in Mongolia,’ which is currently being implemented by UNIDO.

According to UNIDO, Mongolian officers responsible for hazardous waste management and policy development require capacity-building in the fields of boarder control, inspection and enforcement of legislation. The training allowed participants to learn from Czech experiences and to develop an understanding of key principles of control and inspection of hazardous wastes in the EU. [IISD RS Sources]
