The report highlights UNIDO’s efforts to ensure the inclusion of the ISID concept in the post-2015 development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Proposed SDG 9 incorporates ISID and resilient infrastructure and innovation, which the report highlights as an achievement for UNIDO. The document outlines UNIDO’s efforts to promote the concept of ISID throughout 2014, including through: the submission of a report to the UN General Assembly, which resulted in a resolution (A/RES/69/235) recognizing UNIDO’s mandate to promote ISID and endorsing the importance of ISID for the post-2015 agenda; and two ISID Fora.

The report also identifies operational and management achievements, including: a new partnership-based modality for the provision of UNIDO services; and increased effectiveness and efficiency of operations, such as gender mainstreaming and increased transparency and accountability. It also discusses UNIDO’s work with the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), land-locked developing countries (LLDCs), small island developing States (SIDS), middle-income countries (MICs), Brazil, China, India, the Russian Federation and South Africa (BRICS), economies in transition and industrialized countries.

The report also addresses: agribusiness and rural development; food security; the green economy; efficient and low-carbon industries; clean energy access, renewable energy and energy efficiency; and UNIDO’s support to Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), such as the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).
