unido-terri14 February 2014: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and TERI University (TERI U) held a two-week course that brought together 40 policy makers, government officials, and experts from Asia, Africa and Europe to build awareness and knowledge on global trends, innovative technologies and policies in the fields of energy, climate change and sustainable development.

The course, titled the Sustainable Energy Leadership Programme (SELP), took place in New Delhi, India, and featured visits to energy projects in India. Participants also shared their perspectives of sustainable energy projects and engaged in high-level discussions at the Delhi Sustainable Development Week.

Pradeep Monga, Director of UNIDO’s Energy and Climate Change Branch, said central to the design of the programme was the adage that “seeing is believing,” and allowing “participants to observe and interact with the actual innovative installations, entrepreneurs, and their beneficiaries, to understand the concepts and judge their applicability to their own countries’ context.” [UNIDO Press Release] [TERI Website]
