The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and QUINVITA, a global industrial crop technology company, have entered into an agreement to support the sustainable development of bio-energy crops in tropical regions.

3 November 2011: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and QUINVITA have entered into an agreement to support the sustainable development of bioenergy crops in tropical regions.QUINVITA is a global industrial crop technology company that focuses on deploying new technologies in alternative energy crops like Jatropha curcas. Philippe Scholtès, Director of UNIDO’s Agribusiness Development Branch, noted the importance of this cooperation, highlighting the potential of energy crops to produce green, renewable energy and reduce poverty in developing countries. The first example of this cooperation is the project “Strategic analysis of the potential of novel bioenergy crops in ECOWAS countries,” jointly implemented by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), QUINVITA and UNIDO.
