31 July 2008: The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is
organizing a regional meeting for the Latin American region, on the theme “Towards
an International Energy Management System Standard.” The event will be held
from 27-29 August, 2008, in São Paulo, Brazil.

The regional meeting is part of the UNIDO initiative to support the
development of an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Energy
Management Standard, and is being organized jointly by UNIDO and the Brazilian
Association of Technical Standardization (ABNT) and supported by the Renewable
Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership. The meeting will seek to raise
awareness and promote energy management system standards in the industrial
sector in Latin America.
The event is targeted at representatives of industry
and manufacturing enterprises, policy makers from government energy agencies
and national standards setting authorities, and experts in energy management
systems and industrial energy efficiency. [UNIDO
