UNGA Second Committee Chair Proposes Special Events on Rio+20 and New Development Paradigm

At the Second Committee (Economic and Financial) of the 67th Session of the UN General Assmebly (UNGA), Chair Talbot proposed six special events on, inter alia: follow-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) on sustainable development goals (SDGs) and a new development paradigm.

21 September 2012: The Second Committee (Economic and Financial) of the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) held its first meeting, orally adopting its organization of work and electing a new Vice-Chair, Modest Jonathan Mero, from Tanzania.

During the first meeting, Committee Chair George Wilfred Talbot, Guyana, proposed six special events on, inter alia: follow-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) on sustainable development goals (SDGs); a new development paradigm; and science, technology and innovation.
