UNGA Second Committee Adopts Organization of Work for 65th Session

17 September 2010: The Second Committee (Economic and Financial) of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted its organization of work for the 65th session, including poverty eradication and other development issues, climate change and the international financial and trading systems.

The Committee also adopted its programme of work (document A/C.2/65/L.1). Under the sustainable development umbrella, the Committee was expected to consider, inter alia, the Programme for the Further Implementation of Agenda 21 and the outcomes of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD); follow-up to, and implementation of, the Mauritius Strategy for the Further Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS); and the protection of global climate for present and future generations.
