OWG20 August 2014: In a letter to UN Member States, President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) John Ashe clarified his intention to submit the proposal of the Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the UNGA “for its consideration and appropriate action.” His clarification followed concerns expressed “by a number of Member States.” He informed Member States that the “date for the consideration by the General Assembly will be announced in due course in the UN journal.”

Ashe recalled his letter dated 4 August 2014, in which he forwarded a letter from the OWG Co-Chairs, Macharia Kamau (Kenya) and Csaba Korosi (Hungary), along with the OWG’s proposal and record of proceedings. In that letter, Ashe said the OWG report would be submitted as an official document of the 68th UNGA, and that he intended to propose that the UNGA decide to transmit the consideration of the document to the 69th session.
