3 August 2009: In preparation for the intersessional informal consultations of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA), which will convene from 10-14 August 2009, in Bonn, Germany, the UNFCCC Secretariat has released the AWG-LCA scenario note.

The scenario note indicates that a new phase of work will begin at the intersessional informal consultations based on the revised negotiating text, compiling inputs provided by parties. Regarding the organization of work, negotiations will be undertaken in open-ended informal groups that will consider all the elements of the Bali Action Plan on adaptation, mitigation, technology development and transfer (with capacity building), financing and shared vision. The proposed outcome of the informal week will be a further revision of the text, which will be forwarded to the seventh session of the AWG-LCA, scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 28 September-9 October 2009.
