UNFCCC Secretariat Releases Parties’ Submissions on the Elements Contained in Paragraph 1 of the Bali Action Plan

20 March 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a compilation document containing the submissions by parties on “Ideas and proposals on the elements contained in paragraph 1 of the Bali Action Plan” (FCCC/AWGLCA/2009/MISC.1/Add.1). This document is an addendum to the 25 submissions from 22 parties contained in document FCCC/AWGLCA/2009/MISC.1, and contains three further submissions from two parties.

Australia’s submission relates to land use, land-use change and forestry, and Qatar’s submissions are on: mitigation and means of implementation; and sectoral approaches. These submissions will be examined by the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention at its fifth session, scheduled to take place from 29 March–8 April 2009, in Bonn, Germany, under its agenda item “enabling the full, effective and sustained implementation of the Convention through long-term cooperative action now, up to and beyond 2012, by addressing, inter alia: a shared vision for long-term cooperative action; enhanced national/international action on mitigation of climate change; enhanced action on adaptation; enhanced action on technology development and transfer to support action on mitigation and adaptation; enhanced action on the provision of financial resources and investment to support action on mitigation and adaptation and technology cooperation.” [The Document]
