11 September 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has received a submission from Bolivia, under shared vision for long-term cooperative action, calling for a Universal Mother Earth’s Rights Declaration.
The proposal suggests that the AWG-LCA negotiating text should include language, inter alia, stating that global warming is affecting not only human beings, but also all natural beings and Mother Earth, and a shared vision for long-term cooperative action requires recognizing the rights of not only human beings, but also of the rights of Mother Earth and all its beings.
The UNFCCC Secretariat has also received a submission from the least developed countries group on development and transfer of technology. The submission highlights: the establishment of a Technology Action Framework; development and transfer of mitigation and adaptation technologies; a technology institutional framework; and a financial mechanism.
