The United Nations Climate Change Conference, Poznań, Poland - COP 14, 1-12 December 2008 24 November 2008: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released four papers on adaptation in an effort to aid parties in carrying out adaptation measures. Two of these papers are related to the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-Term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA).

One discusses the ongoing work within the UN system on adaptation,
including planning, implementation, financing, knowledge sharing and
technical support activities. The other paper provides information on
financing adaptation and proposes three financing schemes to manage
risks. The other two papers are issued under the Nairobi Work
Programme.
The first is a technical paper that outlines climate-related
extreme events and other risks for developing countries, and discusses
the prospect of achieving Millennium Development Goals and sustainable
development in this light. The second discusses tools, systems and
practices that are needed for the advancement of integrated disaster
risk reduction and adaptation measures into national policymaking and
programme development. [The Papers]
