© UNFCCC22 October 2009: An accredited independent entity (AIE) has submitted a monitoring report to the UNFCCC Secretariat for the joint implementation (JI) project “Utilization of Coal Mine Methane at the Coal Mine named after A.F. Zasyadko.”

The monitoring report covers the period from 1 January 2009 to 30 September 2009. The submission was made pursuant to the JI Guidelines, which stipulate that under the JI Track 2 procedure, reports on emission reductions by sources or enhancements of removals by sinks made by JI projects shall be made publicly available. The monitoring report is now available on the JI website.
In addition, the verification pertaining to the JI project “Benaiciai Wind Power Project” has been deemed final. This is in accordance with the JI Guidelines that provide that a determination regarding the emission reductions by sources or enhancements of removals by sinks (verification) shall be deemed final 15 days after the date on which the verification is made public, unless a Party involved in the project or three members of the JI Supervisory Committee (JISC) request a review by the JISC. Since neither a Party involved nor three members of the JISC have requested a review within this period, the verification for this JI project for the monitoring report covering the period from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2008 is deemed final. The final verification is available on the JI website.
Two JI project design documents have also been submitted by AIEs to the UNFCCC Secretariat, and are open for comments until 18 November 2009. This is pursuant to the provision of the JI Guidelines requiring that under the JI Track 2 procedure, AIEs shall make JI project design documents publicly available through the Secretariat, subject to confidentiality provisions, and receive comments from parties, stakeholders and UNFCCC accredited observers for 30 days from the date the PDD is made publicly available. The JI projects for which documents have been submitted are “Reconstruction of Pervomayskaia CHP – 14 with installation of combined cycle units” and “Enhancement of Yuzhnaia CHP – 22 of St. Petersburg: Construction of unit #4.” The project design documents are available on the JI website, where detailed information on the submission of comments is also provided.
