chadflag6 November 2009: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that the Kyoto Protocol will enter into force for Chad on 17 November 2009, as it deposited its instrument of accession to the Kyoto Protocol on 18 August 2009. Chad’s accession will bring the number of parties to the Protocol, both States and regional economic integration organizations, to 190.
The UNFCCC Secretariat has also announced that Kyrgyzstan deposited its instrument of acceptance to the Amendment to Annex B to the Kyoto Protocol on 2 November 2009. Kyrgyzstan’s acceptance will bring the total number of States that have deposited their acceptance to the Amendment to Annex B to the Kyoto Protocol to 17. France deposited its notification of withdrawal from the amendment to Annex B to the Kyoto Protocol on 27 October 2009.
