UNFCCC Releases Submissions on Support to National Adaptation Plan Process in LDCs

The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the submissions from Parties, relevant organizations, and bilateral and multilateral agencies containing information on support to the national adaptation plan process in the least developed countries (LDCs).

12 April 2012: The Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has released the submissions from Parties, relevant organizations, and bilateral and multilateral agencies containing information on support to the national adaptation plan process in the least developed countries (LDCs). Eleven small island developing States (SIDS) are also categorized as LDCs, namely: Cape Verde, Comoros, Guinea Bissau, Haiti, Kiribati, Maldives, Samoa, Sao Tome and Principe, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

The first set of submissions (FCCC/SBI/2012/MISC.1), which contain information on how organizations and agencies have responded to the invitation to support the national adaptation plan process in the LDCs and consider establishing support programmes, are from: the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO); the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP); and the World Bank.

The second set of submissions (FCCC/SBI/2012/MISC.2) are from: Bangladesh; Denmark and the European Commission, on behalf of the EU; the Gambia, on behalf of the LDCs; Indonesia; Japan; the US; the International Organization for Migration (IOM); the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR); and the World Health Organization (WHO).
