25 April 203: The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a miscellaneous document containing 11 parties’ views, as well as submissions by four UN organizations and one intergovernmental organization, on the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change (FCCC/SBSTA/2013/MISC.2).

Parties that presented submissions are: Australia, Chile, Costa Rica, the EU, Gambia for the Least Developed Countries (LCDs), Guinea, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, the Russian Federation, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan. The submissions were presented upon an invitation by the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to parties and relevant organizations to present, by 17 September 2012, their views on potential future areas of work for the Nairobi work programme.

Some of the proposals by the LDCs include to work on: strengthening sector-specific and cross-sectoral activities to address adaptation issues related to water, food security, ecosystems and infrastructure; enhance understanding of cost effective adaptation; and enhancing the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge practices for adaptation.
