UNFCCC Publishes Ten Submissions under the Bali Action Plan

The UNFCCC has published submissions from the African Group, Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Poland, on behalf of the EU, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, and the US under ideas and proposals on the elements contained in paragraph 1 of the Bali Action Plan.

UNFCCC22 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published submissions (FCCC/AWGLCA/2011/MISC.9/ Add.1) from parties under ideas and proposals on the elements contained in paragraph 1 of the Bali Action Plan (decision 1/CP.13).

The submissions are in relation to the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA) agenda items on: the preparation of a comprehensive and balanced outcome to be presented to the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to enable the full, effective and sustained implementation of the Convention through long-term cooperative action, now, up to and beyond 2012, pursuant to the results of COP 13 and COP 16 and recognizing that the work of the AWG-LCA under the Convention includes both implementation tasks and issues that are still to be concluded; further definition of the scope and development of the modalities of the review; continued discussion of legal options; and other matters.

The submissions are from: the African Group; Australia; Brazil; China; Japan; Poland, on behalf of the EU; New Zealand; Singapore; Switzerland; and the US. These submissions will be considered by AWG-LCA 14, which will take place in Durban, South Africa. The AWG-LCA will present the results of its work to the COP for consideration as per decision 1/CP.16, paragraph 143. The closing date of the session of the AWG-LCA will be determined in Durban.
