UNFCCC Publishes Report on CDM Benefits

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a report outlining the sustainable development, technology transfer and investment benefits provided by the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

The report is the first in a series that aims to assess the CDM's overall use and effectiveness.

Benefits of the Clean Development Mechanism 201114 November 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a report outlining the multiple benefits provided by the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), including the promotion of flows of finance, and technology and knowledge transfer to host countries.

The report, titled “Benefits of the Clean Development Mechanism 2011,” is the first in a series that aims to assess the CDM’s overall use and effectiveness. This report provides an overview of the contribution of CDM project activities to sustainable development, technology transfer and investment. It focuses specifically on: the sustainable development benefits associated with CDM projects; technology transfer prompted by CDM projects; and investment flows generated by CDM projects.
