UNFCCC Publishes Documents on Intergovernmental Meetings

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published an addendum regarding the arrangements for intergovernmental meetings that addresses: information on the sessions; future sessional periods; and organization of the intergovernmental process.

UNFCCC16 June 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published an addendum (FCCC/SBI/2011/6/Add.1) regarding arrangements for intergovernmental meetings that lists possible elements of the provisional agendas for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) and the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol at its seventh session (COP/MOP 7).

The addendum addresses information on the sessions, including an organizational scenario, and future sessional periods. Information is provided on arrangements for additional sessions of the Ad Hoc Working Groups in 2011, as well as preparations for COP 18 and COP/MOP 8. Guidance by the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) is invited regarding the dates for the six regular sessional periods in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The document also presents information on the organization of the intergovernmental process, particularly related to the calendar of meetings in the UNFCCC process. Information on ways to enhance the engagement of observer organizations, including good practices relating to observer organizations in the UN system, is also presented to facilitate the discussion under this item, including at an in-session workshop to be held during the 34th session of the SBI.
