UNFCCC Publishes Additional SBI Documents for Bonn Session

The UNFCCC Secretariat has published SBI documents on arrangements for intergovernmental meetings and an addendum to the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2012-2013.

13 May 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published further documents that will be considered by the 34th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI).

Concerning arrangements for intergovernmental meetings, document FCCC/SBI/2011/6 addresses: information on, including an organizational scenario for, the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) and the seventh session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP); arrangements for additional sessions of the Ad Hoc Working Groups in 2011; and preparations for COP 18 and COP/MOP 8. The document also invites guidance by the SBI regarding the dates for the six regular sessional periods in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The document further presents information on the organization of the intergovernmental process, particularly related to the calendar of meetings in the UNFCCC process. Information on ways to enhance the engagement of observer organizations, including good practices relating to observer organizations in the UN system, is presented to facilitate the discussion under this item, including at an in-session workshop to be held during SBI 34.

An addendum (FCCC/SBI.2011/2/Add.2) to the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2012-2013 has also been published. The document describes activities proposed to be undertaken during the biennium 2012-2013 that are not covered by the core programme budget and presents the associated resource requirements to be financed from the Trust Fund for Supplementary Activities. The SBI is invited to consider the proposed activities and take note of the resource requirements.
