20 December 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has launched a call for experts on the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) to assist with the registration of CDM projects and the issuance of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs). This call is part of efforts to process CDM project submissions in a timely manner.

The call was launched in response to a request by the CDM Executive Board at its 66th meeting, that the Secretariat endeavor to continue to process submissions within the timeframe urged by the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP), and to closely monitor and manage the resource requirements needed to deal with expected increase in number of submissions in 2012. In response, the Secretariat is compiling a list of experts who could be called upon to undertake assessments of submissions, requests for registration of project activities, and requests for issuance of CERs, to ensure that reports meet the required standards.

Experts fulfilling specific competence requirements are invited to apply to be considered for inclusion in the list. The call for experts is open until 31 January 2012. [Call for CDM Experts]
