UNFCCC, IGES to Collaborate on Climate Change Issues

The UNFCCC Secretariat and IGES have entered into a cooperation agreement to implement activities aimed at addressing global climate change issues, including through developing databases, undertaking research, convening regional events, producing publications and other initiatives.

UNFCCC23 October 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) have entered into an agreement to cooperate in addressing global climate change issues.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the framework for cooperation was signed by the UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres and the Chair of the IGES Board of Directors, Hironori Hamanaka. Under the MOU, the two organizations will jointly implement activities aimed at addressing global climate change issues and contributing to the ultimate objective of the UNFCCC.

Areas of collaboration will include database development, research, regional events, publications and other initiatives. [IGES Press Release]
