UNESCO8 February 2013: The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has launched an online survey to consult stakeholders on the future of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), as a follow-up to the UN Decade of ESD that will end in 2014. Member States and other stakeholders are invited to respond to the questionnaire by 31 March 2013.

Survey participants are invited to provide their views on, inter alia: the future of ESD; which issues should feature in a new ESD programme framework; and which successful initiatives should be scaled up.

UNESCO underlines that ESD’s importance is recognized in the outcome document of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), where States made a commitment to strengthening ESD beyond the end of the UN Decade of ESD (2005-2014).
