Donald Gabriels was appointed the new UNESCO Chair on Eremology (desert studies) at Ghent University, The Netherlands. Gabriels is the director of the International Centre for Eremology (Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University).
He works closely with UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme in the context of the project on ‘Sustainable Management of Marginal Drylands’ as well as with UNESCO International Hydrological Programme (IHP) on the ‘Water Centre for Arid and Semi-Arid Zones of Latin America and the Caribbean.’
