unep_zayed29 January 2016: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment will produce an international textbook on inclusive green economy, covering macroeconomic theory and specific sectoral policies. The textbook will provide researchers with a comprehensive analytical framework for studying green economy and will contain regional perspectives to enable policy design.

Achim Steiner, UNEP Executive Director, and Mohammed Ahmed bin Fahad, Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment, signed the agreement on 29 January 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya. The agreement, set to run until February 2017, seeks to deepen the partnership between the two organizations and promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the signing ceremony, Steiner explained that the textbook will enable the consolidation and growth of knowledge on green economy practices by disseminating theory, frameworks and best practices. Bin Fahad added that the agreement with UNEP will help further facilitate the process of achieving the SDGs for countries committed to a green growth pathway. [UNEP Press Release]
