UNEP and WRI are seeking comments and feedback related to a project titled "Designing an International Climate Regime: Moving the UNFCCC Forward," which aims to capture a diverse range of views on key issues reflecting the main approaches that may be taken to build a climate regime.
26 July 2011: The World Resources Institute (WRI) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) are calling for comments and feedback related to a project titled “Designing an International Climate Regime: Moving the UNFCCC Forward,” which aims to capture a diverse range of views on issues reflecting the main approaches that may be taken to build a climate regime.
The “Designing an International Climate Regime: Moving the UNFCCC Forward” project is being led by UNEP and the WRI, with the support of the Government of Ireland. The paper for which comments are being solicited seeks to provide a resource for the work of UNFCCC negotiators and other climate change experts within governments, international institutions and civil society. The project leaders are calling for feedback, comments, and suggestions as to further literature that addresses one of more of the key issues analyzed in the paper. In particular, topical literature that presents developing country visions for the future climate regime are sought.
The paper will be released in October 2011 and launched in Washington DC, US, around that time. It will also be the topic of a side event during the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, in Durban, South Africa, at the end of 2011.
