UNEP-WCMC Publishes Annual Report

The report highlights several achievements, among them, a growing number of partnerships.

It also notes UNEP/WCMC's support to: REDD; CITES and IPBES.

December 2012: The UN Environment Programme-World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) has published its 2011 Annual Report. It highlights a growing number of partnerships with a range of biodiversity-related multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) and the Rio Conventions.

It also notes: its participation in an Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group (AHTEG) to consider the indicators required to track progress towards the Aichi Targets at global, regional and national scales; coordination of the UK National Ecosystem Assessment (NEA); training of training for analysts and decision-makers from Congo and Indonesia to assist in delivering the REDD mechanism; training to help EU national authorities meet the goals of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES); and support to to establish an Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
