UNEP Seeks Feedback on Global Atlas on Solar and Wind Energy
story highlights

A Global Atlas for Solar and Wind Energy is being developed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other partners as part of the international Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) process.

UNEPDecember 2011: A Global Atlas for Solar and Wind Energy is being developed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other partners as part of the international Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) process. To ensure the Atlas meets the end-users’ needs, UNEP is seeking feedback on elements that could increase the utility of the atlas and web portal, as well as on experiences in using UNEP’s Solar and Wind Energy Resource Assessment (SWERA) data and tools.

For that purpose, a survey has been developed, addressed to policy makers, energy planners, developers, NGOs, universities/research centers or any other users who are interested in renewable energy and can use the information in their work. The Atlas will seek to facilitate the deployment of renewable energy technologies and enhance investment by sharing the necessary information on resource potentials and related socioeconomic and policy conditions, by means of a unified public domain global dataset.
