© COPYRIGHTFOTO3 August 2009: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Sustainable Energy Finance Initiative Public Finance Alliance (SEF Alliance) has published a report titled “Why Clean Energy Public Investment Makes Economic Sense – The Evidence Base,” which compiles and assesses evidence linking government clean energy spending with key indicators of economic health, such as job creation and growth.

The report finds that green spending creates more jobs per dollar than most other types of stimulus spending. It is also observes that investments in clean energy and energy efficiency programmes increase GDP, incomes, and jobs, while reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption and costs, and energy price fluctuations. The SEF Alliance is an international coalition of public clean energy funds, under the remit of UNEP.[The report]
