13 December 2009: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Environment Agency have released theEuropean Atlas of Environmental Change and Climate Communities, which depicts through satellite imagery the impact of climate change in Europe.
The Atlas analyzes 15 sites and includes evidence of the positive change caused by community initiatives through images showing environmentally-relevant land cover changes. The Atlas is part of the UNEP’s concept of the “Atlas of our changing environment,” which already includes Atlases for Africa and individual countries there. [UNEP Press Release][The Atlas]
